Our newest investigator, Heather Nering, comes to Third Chair Investigations LLC with extensive experience in both the public and private sectors.  She was most recently employed by the McLennan County District Attorney’s office as their discovery coordinator, handling complex discovery for such cases as the Twin Peaks shooting. Among her many other duties, Heather also spent time gathering and analyzing social media data pertaining to criminal cases.  She became proficient at using social media to locate and identify individuals, and to gather information relevant to cases.

Even considering Heather’s extensive experience in law enforcement, it may be her experience in the banking industry that brings the most value to Third Chair.  She worked for a national bank as a branch operations manager for several years.  Her duties included running daily operations, managing employees, completing audits and balancing internal accounts.  This experience prepared Heather to undertake investigations of complex banking and financial transactions.  Among her investigations with Third Chair, she has spent considerable time on a case analyzing a complex series of banking transactions involving approximately fifty bank accounts, twenty LLCs and numerous loan documents.

Along the way, Heather has also become familiar with complex computer programs such as E-doc Technology and was trained to use Cellebrite to analyze cell phone contents.   She has also trained law enforcement agencies on these programs.

Heather is a member of the International Association of Law Enforcement Analysts, a member of the International Association of Crime Analysts and serves her community as a member of the McLennan Community College Paralegal Advisory Committee.

Heather lives in McLennan County with her family.
